The brief
A custom rendition of Medusa, based on classical statue references.
The approach
Working from classical statues gave her a calm, sculpted face, which contrasts with the movement of the snakes in her hair. Engraved linework shapes the features, while bolder black in the serpents keeps the design readable on the calf.
