The brief
A custom piece based on historic references of a hand holding an arrow.
The approach
A hand holding an object is a classic motif in old engravings and printers' marks. I kept that period feel with a ruffled cuff and fine hatched shading, and let the arrow's fletching break out at the top to add movement.
