The brief
The client wanted a piece inspired by the talking door knockers in the film Labyrinth: bold, full of character and instantly recognisable.
The approach
I redrew the knocker as an antique cast-iron fitting rather than a film still, using heavy solid black for the ring and the face so it reads clearly from across a room. Finer detail sits in the brow and snout, and the eyes are the only colour: a hit of red that brings it to life.
