Zero Ego, Everyone Welcome: What It's Like to Get Tattooed at blinc.ink
No cliques, no eye-rolls, no conveyor belt. How I work with clients, from the first message to the last check-in, and what clients say about it.
By Clive Camilleri, blinc.ink, Highbridge

A lot of people put off getting tattooed for years, and it's rarely because of the needle. It's the studio. Walking into a room where nobody looks up, where asking a question feels like an inconvenience, where you get the sense you're not quite cool enough to be there. If you've felt that, you're not alone.
I built blinc.ink to be the exact opposite: structured, transparent, welcoming and ego-free. Here's what that actually means when you get tattooed with me.
Everyone is welcome, exactly as they are
Whoever you are, however you identify and whatever your background, you're welcome here. I offer a strictly zero-judgement, LGBTQ+ friendly and fully accepting experience. Tattoos are a brilliant way to celebrate your body, your identity and your story, and that's how I treat every piece.
It doesn't matter whether it's your first tattoo or your fifteenth, a tiny flash piece or a large custom design, a deep personal meaning or "I just love how it looks". You'll be treated exactly the same.
No surprises
A lot of nerves come from not knowing what's going to happen, so I try to take the guesswork out:
- It starts with a free, no-obligation chat on WhatsApp. Ask me anything, however small.
- You'll know the price before you arrive. No awkward conversations on the day.
- The deposit is simple: £30 secures your date and comes off the final price.
- You'll see the design and the stencil as many times as you need. We don't start until you're 100% happy with how it looks and where it sits.
If you'd like the full picture, I've written a step-by-step guide to what to expect from your first tattoo.
Your session, your way
Every appointment is a private, 1-to-1 session at Dermoda Studio in Highbridge, so you have my full attention from start to finish.
The vibe is completely up to you. I'm down to earth and always up for a good chat, a laugh or swapping stories. But if you'd rather have a quiet session, pop your headphones in, read a book or just zone out, there's no pressure at all to entertain me. In the consultation form you can even tell me how you'd like the session to feel before you arrive, so the room is set up for you.
You're in control of the pace. Need to stretch your legs, have a snack, use the toilet or just take a breather? Say the word. Tattooing is teamwork, and I'll never rush you or make you feel bad for needing a break.
Feeling anxious? I generally ask people to come on their own, to keep the space calm and clean and so I can focus completely on your tattoo. But if you're feeling really anxious or have accessibility needs, message me beforehand and we can arrange for one friend or family member to join you.
Honest advice, not ego
Zero ego works both ways. It means I'll always give you my honest opinion. If I think a design needs to be a little bigger to age well, or a placement would suit it better, I'll tell you and explain why. But it's your skin and your tattoo, and the final say is always yours.
Support doesn't stop when you leave
You'll leave with clear aftercare advice and my full aftercare guide. If you're ever unsure how it's healing, send me a photo on WhatsApp and I'll take a look, whenever you need. You can read more about why that matters in why tattoo aftercare matters.
In clients' own words
I'd rather let the people I've tattooed tell you what it's like. A few excerpts from my client reviews:
"Clive was amazing, he was very professional and helped put me at ease." Sarah
"When having the tattoo, he made me feel comfortable, chatted throughout, was a real professional, and the tattoo turned out perfect." Tiff, memorial flower
"He is very down to earth and professional, making the whole process flow. Communication was great when arranging dates, the style and the design itself." Amy, hand and arrow
"Clive was very professional, patient and down to earth." Don
